CARBON HILL, Ala. (WBRC) - Carbon Hill Police are investigating a deadly home invasion that happened Wednesday. A suspect died at the scene of the home invasion, but police are still searching for another.

According to police, a home along 7th Avenue NW had been hit by burglars Tuesday, so the homeowner took off work Wednesday. On Wednesday, two suspects showed up and kicked down the homeowner’s door. Police are unsure if it’s the same suspects from Tuesday.

When the homeowner heard noises outside on Wednesday, he reportedly already had his gun accessible. He fired shots after the door was kicked in. The 911 call came in around 12:24 p.m.

A woman, identified by the coroner as 32-year-old Kenya Pugh, was shot and died at the scene. Police identified the second suspect as a man named Dustin Patrick Tucker.
